Founded in 1963 by George Balanchine protégée Barbara Weisberger, Pennsylvania Ballet has long been recognized as one of the country's premier ballet companies. Over the past decade, the Ballet has risen to unprecedented heights of excellence. Among its many achievements, the Company has:

• Added 79 new works to its repertoire, including 33 world premieres and 46 Company premieres by some of today's finest choreographers.
• Debuted internationally at the prestigious Edinburgh International Festival, performing Swan Lake to sold-out audiences and glowing critical reviews.
• Appeared to wide acclaim at New York City Center and The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
• Established its first endowment, now at $3.4 million.

As it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2013-2014, Pennsylvania Ballet intends to revitalize and reshape its relationship to the Philadelphia community. It is dedicated to bringing a rich diversity of work to Philadelphia audiences, making the art form more accessible and affordable, maintaining live orchestral music, and educating the next generation of dancers and audiences. Just as important, Pennsylvania Ballet is committed to strengthening its balance sheet and establishing a solid cash reserve.

We invite you to join our Building Beyond 50 campaign to help the Ballet achieve the following:

Construct permanent headquarters for the Company and a new school on Philadelphia's celebrated Avenue of the Arts. Goal: $17.5 million

Invest in key artistic priorities such as the expansion of our repertoire, growing and supporting our Company of dancers, and maintaining the Orchestra of Pennsylvania Ballet. Goal: $3 million

Re- establish the School of Pennsylvania Ballet in Center City and a satellite school in the suburbs. Goal: $500,000

Strengthen the Ballet's balance sheet and working capital. Goal: $4 million
